Danny Lee Bounds, 67, of Ponca City, Oklahoma, passed away on September 21, 2026, after his battle with liver cancer.Danny was born December 6, 1958, in San Fernando, California, to Dorothy May Bounds and Columbus Laverne Bounds and was raised in Sun Valley, California.From the very beginning, Danny was a family man. His mother, Dorothy, fondly remembers him as a true "mama's boy." As a child, he didn't want to go anywhere without his mama and was happiest wherever she was. That love and devotion to family stayed with Danny throughout his life.Those who knew Danny would describe him as stubborn, caring, funny, accepting, and above all, a family man. He could tell a story, make people laugh, and certainly had his own way of doing things. But underneath that stubborn streak was a man who cared deeply about the people he loved.Danny spent his working years doing a little bit of everything. He worked as a roofer and truck driver, owned his own business, and spent some time working for the postal service. He was always thinking of his next idea or a new way to make a little money. He loved collecting records and finding different things—especially the "treasures" he thought he might be able to turn around and sell.Danny also enjoyed gardening until a storm took out his garden, watching Fox News, and telling stories. But his favorite times were the ones spent surrounded by family. He loved Thanksgiving and any excuse for everyone to gather. BBQs, swim parties, holidays—it really didn't matter what was happening. If his family was getting together, Danny wanted to be right there in the middle of it.Danny shared more than 28 years of life, love, and family with his wife, Francesca "Fran" Lee Bounds. After many years together, they married in 2019. He stood beside Fran through the late nights at the dance studio and supported all of her crazy ideas. They enjoyed the big moments, but they also enjoyed the ordinary ones—including simply going to Walmart together.Of all the roles Danny had throughout his life, being Pops was one of the ones he treasured most. He loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved watching them grow, celebrating their accomplishments, and simply being part of their lives. The family gatherings he loved so much became filled with children and grandchildren, and there was nowhere Danny would rather have been.Danny is survived by his loving wife of the home, Francesca "Fran" Lee Bounds; his mother, Dorothy May Bounds; his children, Noelle Bounds, JD Botts and wife, Sharita, April Botts, Heather Norris, Nina Norris, and Courtney Gallimore and Jeremy; his grandchildren, Trey Ray and Angelina Ibarra, Bobby Gene McCullough, Destinee Ray and Ali Caldwell, Dejah Norris and Stephen Davis, Madison Terrell, Lydia Suggs and husband, Logan, Savanna Terrell, Jace Hunter and wife, Ella, Kelsey Baichtal, Jewls Torres, Gabby Torres, Bella Norris, Kodi Norris, Ryker Torres, Tatyana Torres, Ali Torres, Shelby Eldeman and husband, Jason, Tanner Botts and wife, Tayler, Brooklyn Terry, and Jayden Botts; his great-grandchildren, Lyla Suggs, Mace Terrell, Aiden Eldeman, Theodore Botts, and Ensley Botts;; his sister, Gwendolyn Leona Elmore and husband Greg; his brother, Kenneth Bounds and wife, Sandra; and a host of extended family and friends who loved him dearly.Danny was preceded in death by his father, Columbus Laverne Bounds; his nephew, Franklin Zac Higgins; his brother-in-law, Robert Higgins; his mother-in-law, Fancies Higgins; his great-granddaughter, Taylor Renee McCulloughhis paternal grandparents; and his maternal grandmother, Doris Steelman.Serving as pallbearers will be Trey Ray, Jace Hunter, Bobby Gene McCullough, Logan Suggs, Stephen Davis, and Jeremy Parcell. Ryker Torres and Mace Terrell will serve as honorary pallbearers.A viewing will be held Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 5:00–7:00 p.m. at Grace Memorial Funeral Home, Ponca City, OK 74601. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Luke's Church 1715 E Prospect Ave, Ponca City, OK 74604. Interment will be at Longwood Cemetery in Ponca City.
