“We love your magazine.”
That phrase is said to me a lot, and I always appreciate it. And I agree -
I love it, too. But I make sure to remind people, when they pay me compliments, that it’s not just my magazine. We have a team of over 20 writers, editors, designers, and others who make this magazine what it is. It’s a tall order, but we’ve got it down to a pretty exact science after four years.
And I really can’t brag on my team enough. Their hard work and dedication are what makes this magazine so special.
Hayley Harrison works incredibly hard and does it all with a smile. Her gentle heart is a blessing to have around our office. Hayley is such a talented writer and editor, and the sky really is the limit for her.
Jill Rowe always has the funniest stories and fills our office with laughter. Jill is an insanely creative artist and designer and anytime a huge challenge is thrown at her, she rises to the occasion. Jill has a wonderful, creative flair for cocktails and shares them every month in our magazine.
Robyn Ryan is always the first person to volunteer to help a fellow employee out, and Robyn and I work so well as a team that we joke that we have the same brain. Robyn always goes above and beyond not just for her coworkers, but for advertisers, as well.
Andy is one of the most talented designers I have ever met, and his industry experience makes our magazine layout POP. I love Andy’s light-hearted nature and his willingness to always listen to my crazy ideas. Andy and I are both dreamers.
Carey, Marlys and Chelsea are writers for our magazine, and they each bring such unique viewpoints to their writing.
Carey is an award-winning journalist and our magazine is truly blessed to have her as a writer. Carey’s attention to detail and her investigative-style of journalism produces interesting and impactful stories time and time again. If I ever need journalistic guidance or support, Carey is my go-to.
Marlys Cervantes’ insight into religion, education and the human spirit
reveals hidden layers about whatever topic she is writing about. She’s also a wonderful and kind person and I am so glad to have her on our team.
Chelsea’s heart for our community and artistic viewpoint brings her readers on a journey and transports them into the story. Chelsea is one of the most organized, efficient and detail-oriented humans I’ve ever met, and Chelsea is the only other person I’ve met who loves office supplies as much as I do.
Rachel Stewart is hilarious, kind, and witty, and every month, she shares stories about her life as a wife, mother, friend, sister, business owner, and community volunteer. She is also very youthful and definitely not middle-aged.
Amy Guerin is a world-traveling foodie, and we all are enamored with her OK Food Crush monthly article. A food coma is a real thing, and we can all thank Amy’s beautiful food photos and descriptive writing style for keeping us updated on the best in our area.
Adam Leaming shares updates every month in the magazine about what’s going on at Ponca City Public Schools. Running a large school district is no easy feat, but Adam is incredibly passionate about education and that comes through in his articles each month.
Kat Long’s gardening articles - Kat has the most unique, fun writing style! I’ve never met someone who can make composting interesting and fun - but Kat can! Kat’s unique worldview and passion for plants are a truly special combination, and Ponca City Monthly is so blessed to have her articles every month.
Guys - I could go on and on…you can read more about each and every person who makes this magazine what it is below.
My staff of employees and writers are some of the most talented people I’ve ever met. And their hard work and enthusiasm for this magazine make my job so easy. I hope you enjoy reading our magazine as much as we enjoy creating it. It is a unique and wonderful project to be a part of, and I am so grateful for it and everyone who makes it possible.
