The Northern Oklahoma Humane Society is excited to announce the return of its Free Spay and Neuter Clinic in collaboration with Greater Good Charities. This much-anticipated event will run from Thursday, February 13th, through Sunday, February 16th, and offers an incredible opportunity for pet owners in the community. The clinic will take place at Garage Building #3, located at 2104 North Ash, and will be open to both dogs and cats. In addition to spaying and neutering services, every animal seen will receive free vaccinations, making it a comprehensive health check for your furry companions.
Registration Starts at 7:30 a.m.
This annual clinic is a cornerstone event for the Norther Oklahoma Humane Society, typically drawing large crowds. Over 1,000 animals are typically seen at each clinic, highlighting the community’s dedication to reducing pet overpopulation. Registration and drop-off will begin on-site at 7:30 a.m. and continue until 10 a.m. or until capacity is reached. However, past events have shown that attendees often begin lining up much earlier than the official start time, so arriving early is strongly encouraged. Animals will be seen on a first-come, first-served basis, so plan accordingly.
One of the unique aspects of this event is its inclusivity, there is no limit to the number of pets you can bring. However, there are important stipulations to note. All pets must weigh at least 2 pounds and be at least 2 months old. Cats must arrive in secure carriers or traps with functional doors, as safety is a top priority. It’s important to know that all cats receiving services will have their ears tipped to indicate their sterilized status, and there are no exceptions to this rule. For everyone’s safety, attendees must always remain in their vehicles with their pets. Northern Oklahoma Humane Society staff and volunteers will come to your car to collect your animals, ensuring an organized and efficient process.
Once your pet is dropped off, you’ll receive detailed information about when and where to pick them up. During their time at the clinic, pets will also be microchipped and vaccinated as part of the comprehensive service. When it’s time to take them home, you’ll be provided with all necessary discharge and after-care instructions. If your pet is nursing or has already received vaccinations, be sure to inform the staff during check-in to ensure proper care.
Volunteers Needed
This event would not be possible without the dedication of volunteers, who work tirelessly to help reduce pet overpopulation in Kay County. However, volunteer support is always in short supply. Even donating an hour or two of your time can make a significant difference. If you’re interested in helping, contact the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society to sign up.
Donate Supplies
Additionally, the clinic has an ongoing need for supplies, particularly bath towels and blankets. These items are essential for providing comfort and care to the animals during their stay. Unfortunately, hand towels, washcloths, and bed sheets are not suitable substitutes. If you have gently used towels or blankets to donate, they will be greatly appreciated.
If volunteering or donating supplies isn’t feasible for you, there are other ways to contribute. The Northern Oklahoma Humane Society has a Walmart wish list, making it easy to support their efforts from the comfort of your home. Simply visit the list, purchase a few items, and Walmart will deliver them directly to the Humane Society. For those who prefer alternative methods of support, call 580-767-8877 to explore more ways to help.
Good Fix and Great Good Charities
This Free Spay and Neuter Clinic is made possible through the partnership between the Northern Oklahoma Humane Society and Greater Good Charities. Greater Good’s Good Fix program deploys specially trained, high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter surgical teams to communities in need. Their efforts include providing vaccinations, educating the public on the importance of spaying and neutering, and offering learning opportunities for local shelters. Good Fix aims to reduce pet overpopulation, alleviate shelter intake, and eliminate the need for euthanizing unwanted animals.
