Car Fire at Pioneer Tech Extinguished Without Injuries
PONCA CITY — A vehicle fire at Pioneer Technology Center was quickly contained Tuesday afternoon after staff and emergency personnel responded to a smoking car that erupted into flames in the parking lot.
The incident occurred around 3:54 p.m., when a silver four-door sedan was spotted smoking before it became fully engulfed in flames. A student alerted staff to the situation, prompting an immediate response.
A teacher rushed outside with a fire extinguisher and attempted to suppress the blaze. While the effort provided temporary relief, the fire continued until Ponca City Fire Department crews arrived on scene and extinguished it. Officers with the Ponca City Police Department also responded.
Firefighters cut the vehicle’s battery cables after determining the car was still energized.
No injuries were reported.
