Boots Beneath Her Bed

Boots Beneath Her Bed

Grace Underwood is harboring a dark secret about the day her parents died 10 years ago. Her cruel uncle Bellamy is the only one who knows the truth, which he’s been holding against her ever since—forcing her to work on his farm as a horse trainer. During her time working for him, she is treated horribly by the ranch hands and her uncle, and the only friend she has is her horse named Vesta. One day, after the cruelty of her uncle goes too far, Grace runs away with no plan and no one to turn to. Then, her luck changes and she begins a new job at Halcyon Ranch as a horse trainer where she begins to imagine a great future for herself.

Crew Caldwell is your typical grumpy cowboy who doesn’t trust outsiders and keeps to himself. Not only is he Halcyon Ranch’s foreman, he is also the owner’s son, who has his own difficult past that he prefers not to discuss with anyone. Determined to mistrust Grace because of her relation to Bellamy, Crew doesn’t make things easy for her. Eventually, he begins to warm up to her and the tension between them grows, but so does the risk of Grace’s secret unraveling. Will Grace fight to keep the only place that’s ever felt like home?

This is Taylor Esposito’s debut novel, and she created such fierce characters for the romance genre that develop wonderfully over the course of the book. While this book is classified as a romance book, there are a few heavy topics discussed throughout when it comes to the background of Grace, so keep that in mind before reading.
